In service to individual freedom, it is in our best interest as citizens to exercise ownership as broadly as possible over the many issues that afflict us. The alternative is to forfeit this responsibility to government. The more challenges we plead with government to solve, the more authority and power they will accrue. Centralized authority wields a monopoly on might. Like all living creatures, a political regime seeks its own self-interest first. Every crisis is an opportunity to seize control of the situation and play savior. When power has gained control, it is a reversal of nature to ever relinquish it. So long as we do not find ways to resolve issues on our own, we plead away our freedom.

The Policy of the People is a code of conduct as much as it is the specific actions we can take to resolve our own challenges without surrendering our liberty to the control of government. Through capitalism, the private actions of citizens have shown that we can solve problems faster, more cost effectively and more thoroughly than any centralized system of command and control. It is in our best interest to retain management of our own lives.

What are the policies that we the people can take to help improve our nation and solve the problems that we face today? Below are things that every citizen can help do now. We don’t need congress to act, nor executive orders to achieve these initiatives.

Policy of the People

Understand Basic Morality

Become educated on the thought process of reason, morality and the political science of freedom. These subjects are at the core of every major and minor thing that happens in the world. Study critical thinking. Know how to delineate actions that are right from those that are wrong and recognize good and evil. Be well informed on how our freedom was established and what we need to do to retain it.  The aim of this site is to help provide resources for that endeavor.

Support the Truth

Support news networks that adhere to good standards of journalism.  Learn to see bias and recognize opinion from fact. Demand the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Apply this principle to social media venues as well. When platforms censor information, we do not receive all the information that may be needed to arrive at sound conclusions. Test opinions and narratives with logic and reason and verify facts.  Do not patronize news agencies or media platforms that fall short of this.

Self Reliance

Be prepared for what life can throw at you. Do not plan to rely on government assistance should a crisis, isolated or widespread, occur.  Vulnerability is dangerous.  Governments are subject to all the same vices that humans are. They can exploit a crisis to gain power and execute unpopular agendas. Retain all the safety, security and leverage that you can. Train and develop yourself to solve problems independently and to ally with your friends, family and neighbors to solve more complex problems. Don’t turn to the government for salvation every time something happens and you think you need help.

Support American Manufacturing

Support national security by ensuring the United States is not reliant on foreign powers.  As a consumer, only source products that are made in the USA or allies of America that genuinely support and promote individual freedom.  As business owners, pull supply chains out of China and other counties that are hostile to freedom.  Do not support foreign economies that weaken our national defense and subvert our economy. Ensure national self-reliance and independence. We don’t need an act of congress to make this happen, (it would be nice if they supported this with tax incentives though).

Support A Free Market Economy

Advocate and educate yourself and those around you on the importance of capitalism.  Ensure we retain the freedom that it supplies. Keep the markets free and open. Recognize when a free economy is being (or has been) subverted and know how to predict the outcome. Teach your friends and family.

Reclaim Education

Reclaim private ownership of education.  Return educational focus to excellence in academics. Teach our children phonics, strong composition in writing, speaking and presentation, comprehensive history, strong math and science, moral science, political science promoting individual liberty (i.e. Aristotle, John Locke, American Founders, Federalist Papers), applied arts and trades. Eliminate common core and social indoctrination studies that pit class against class and promote victimhood, intolerance, segregation and jealously (to the irony of what those programs claim to promote). Achieve this by establishing private and charter schools, homeschool co-ops or join local school boards and do what you can to influence towards these initiatives. Take a strong parental role in ensuring your child receives a quality education.

Reduce Healthcare Costs

One way to reduce healthcare costs is for each of us to take an active role in resolving our own health risks. The first step in this is to support personal health.  You will pay less in health care the healthier you are. Learn what good health habits are. Educate yourself on nutrition.  Study the science and art of physical fitness and exercise regularly. Establish good sleep practices. Cease unhealthy lifestyle habits.  Beyond this, be proactive. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” as is commonly said. Promote healthy lifestyle choices with your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers.

Take an active role in government

At a minimum, understand current issues and participate in all elections, from local town or county elections, to state and federal.  The less common elections for judges, school boards, and city councils, have a much larger impact on overall politics than many people realize.  Keep your local representatives accountable to the interests of the people.  Contact your local representative and be vocal about issues.  Write letters to the editor of your local paper or post on the community social media platform.  Attend town halls and create a voice. Use any existing platforms you are a member of to help inform and educate people around you.

Of course you could always run for office and have a direct influence over local policy.  Even if you don’t have an abundance of free time you can sit on a local board or council with relatively little time commitment.  Volunteer at your local polling station and ensure votes are counted accurately.

Build a local network.

Organize a group of like-minded locals to share knowledge, information and support.  Having people you can trust and rely on will decrease your reliance on government.  Understand the threats and challenges in your area and develop a plan for them.  Train, work, play and learn together.  Use your increased numbers to more effectively lobby on behalf of liberty and to solve problems without burdensome and unneeded regulation.
