Our Mission

Uniting All People On Common Ground

There is no denying a high level of political polarity in America today.   Social media outlets are full of less than civil arguments between people of different political views.  Many sources of mainstream news are openly and unapologetically biased and have succumb to poor and unethical practices of reporting where they increasingly substitute news with opinion.  Partisanship in the people holding political offices is to such a point where officials capitalize on events and disasters to sow disunity and fill relief bills and aide with thousands of pages of unrelated funding for their personal agendas.

The mission of the American Freedom League is to recognize that while we are very divided on many issues, at the core of those issues lies some key values that we can agree on.  Those values are to be secure in our liberty and prosperity.  Everyone one of us wants these things.  While it’s alright to disagree on many subjects, even constructive to debate them, there are several principles of liberty and prosperity that we must all agree on if we wish to maintain our freedom and increase prosperity for everyone.  Among these principles are a universal respect for the individual right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The American Freedom League is non partisan and is not affiliated with or funded by any political party or lobby.  It exists to establish common ground and to share knowledge.

To Establish the Link Between the Necessary Morality and Self Governance

james madison, president, united states of america“It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

James Madison, The Federalist Papers

It is the aim of this work to derive and explore through logic and reason the laws of morality. To know good from evil, and from that, to identify right from wrong.

We believe the laws of morality are universal and concrete. Good is always good and evil is always evil. This isn’t necessary to say that a particular action is always good or always evil, but that good as a conceptual entity is always right and distinct from what is evil and wrong.

Our analogy to this are the laws of nature. There are many laws in physics that can be conceptually understood and defined on a theoretical basis, but also demonstrated and verified on an experimental basis. These laws are what they are and exist to create order the in the physical world. Obeying them or attempting to violate them will each produce profoundly different but predictable outcomes.

So too do the laws of morality create order in the world.  Obeying them creates an existence where life continues, there is safety, improved living conditions, and enjoyment of life.  Disobeying them always leads to harm and if violated sufficiently, to destruction.

It is not within the scope of this work to ascertain the origin of these laws. The object is simply to understand them. We offer at this time, no proof or evidence of how they came to be.  Our intended purpose is to understand and explain what they are.
